Infinity problems (sometimes it doesn't boot) [solved]
it sounds like your laser, it probably needs tweaking, good enough for originals but having trouble with backups.
No, it doesn't boot original PAL/NTSC games either.

if you can it might pay to take photo and post it here, maybe something will stand out
I just wanted to post the same issue as you did. I have experienced the same problem several times, but also with other 'big' models PS2, like v7 and v9. It only seems to happen when you push RESET while the tray is closed with a CD or DVD in it. If there is not a disc inside during a RESET, then the problem doesn't occur. Also when you put in a CD/DVD in the (open) tray and then push RESET, the tray will close and the PS2 will boot normally. (But of course I don't know if you have exactly the same experience).
So it think that by resetting (or switching on) the PS2 with a CD/DVD in it, a conflict can occur between the initialisation of the Matrix Infinity and the PS2 itself, which is spinning up the CD/DVD and tries to read some information from it. I haven't checked the type of laser in the concerning consoles. Maybe the problem occurs with certain type of lasers, because every laser has his own initialisation and control mode, programmed in a EEPROM.
In a slimline PS2 (PStwo) the problem does not occur, even when you use a green dot M.I. I know this for sure.
I am convinced that your wiring is OK. To avoid the problem, I think you should reset/turn on your PS2 without a game in it, open the tray, put it your game and then close the tray by pushing the EJECT-button (and not resetting it at that moment). When you want to stop playing, push EJECT to open the tray ad take te game out. After that you can reset your console without problem.
your solution/hint doesn't work for me, but i have noticed something strange.
Everytime the CD/DVD tray is open and I push the reset button the tray doesn't close and there are some really frightening noises.
Maybe could that be a result of wrong wiring?
I used the diagrams from the official infinity side and checked them again and they are all on the right places.
Uhm, that's weird. Honestly I do not have an idea what could be the problem.
But you can close the tray normally with the EJECT-button, I assume ?
Yes the EJECT-button works.

I had to shorten the cables, because they were too long and so the internal resister was to high.
Now it works perfect.
