I dont know what to do.....

I bought my modded ps2 slim for like over a year now, and i was trying to test out my system to play online. But anyways, I was nosey so i booted the configuration menu (triangle + circle) and then i think i just changed the first option to like ntsc or something and pressed start to save. Then reset to play. But it gives me the "not a ps2 disk" red screen. So i turn off my ps2 and turn it on, but it just gets stucks right away, black screen. The only thing i can do is go to configuration menu, and i changed everything back to the way it was, and it's still same problem when i restart. And it is a Matrix Infinity chip.

Sounds like a MI clone to me. Did you put the chip in or did someone else and did you see it to make sure it is a real MI before they installed it if you went that route?

Clones will kill the chip even just going into the config menu. Some wont until you change something. Also, If you try to upgrade a clone you can kill them also. I heard some of the newer ones though wont damage the chip if you try changing anything but I don't know. I don't waste my time on clones. Clones stink if you ask me.

If your not sure what it is, Open it up and take a look to see if it is indeed a clone or the real thing.

Owch! Talk to Netmech here in the forums. He can set ya up with a real MI and if you don't have the skills he can install it too and under $100 with shipping I bet. Or any installer on here for that matter.. He did my install a while back and still working like a champ. I supplied him with the chip though but he does sell em. And they are the real deal.

Go check out the vendors section on here where that other thread is located. I see a few guys in Canada doing install that look like decent prices and some good looking installs too.
