how do i get out of sleep mode? –

First of all I am a newbie at this so please be patient. I have switched to the playstation 2 after playing games on the pc for years.
Some how when my wife was trying to get on line to play some games she accidently placed the playstation 2 with the matrix infinity 1.54 into sleep mode. Now it will play original games but not the burnt games that I had been able to play before she placed it into sleep mode. When I try to run burnt games I get the red screen that says "please insert a formated playstation 1 or 2 disk" or something to that affect. My question is how do I get it out of sleep mode? I have unpluged the power supply for 8 hours and no luck. Tried to hit reset 3 times, nothing. The only way I can get it to boot up the orginal game is by turning it on (which I only get a black screen unless i hit reset) and hit reset. If I do this for a burnt game I get the red screen described above. I can get into the matrix infinity setting by hitting triangle circle but on boot up I do not get the matrix 1.54 logo like I had before when it boots up the orginal game or burnt game.
In regards to playing games online is it possible to install an online patch by reburning a copy of the game with a patch added to the new burnt copy?
I am running a playstation 2 SCPH-70012 (slim) with an authentic Matrix Infinity 1.54 chip that was installed by a reputable dealer.
Thanks in advance for the help

infinitys automatically come out of sleep once the machine is turned off and back on again, it sounds more like a wire has come loose if your not getting the logo, try changing the boot method to fast boot in config menu and see if it will boot, if not probably needs to be opened.

thanks for the reply. I have tried to load up under fast boot, no luck. Even have gone as far as trying different controllers amongst other things. Right now I am trying to get a hold of the dealer to see if I have a warrenty in place. To be honest I am leary of opening it up as I am not that great with the fine stuff. But I am keeping that open as a last option. Again thanks.
