Help w/ v7 and Infinity Green Dot

Hello all. I have just installed a Matrix Infinity into a v7 ps2. I have checked all my wires/solder points to make sure there's no bad connections/shorting. The problem seems to be that the chip is not "powering/turning on" at all. I can't access the config menu, disable the chip, boot flash upgrade disc, or backups. I used all the points that are shown in the v7 diagram, and have also tried using the 3.3v and ground point that the dms4 uses just to see if that would help. Still nothing has worked. One more thing I noticed is that I have two different diagrams that show two different ground points, one of which I have not tried yet.

Yes, they do. I've been trying anything I can think of, but to no avail.

I always ground to the copper strip around the motherboard or one of the big pads if it's closer depending on chip/version. Ground doesn't really matter where it is. You could solder it to the whole metal case if you really wanted.

Yeah, I've installed 2 dms4's, and used the copper strip on the outside for ground for them (the ground has to be real short on those). The MI isn't the same, ground doesnt have to be real short? And could there be any other reason why the chip wouldn't be working?

I had the same problem on my last v7 install... it took me 3 resets to get it to finally read the firmware upgrade then it worked fine.

Another thing.. the Y point is different in your two diagrams.. the top diagram shows the point I use.

Lastly.. I always use the copper stipping that surrounds the motherboard as the one of the above posters stated as well.

You're right, the Y wire is different. I would go by the top diagram as that seems to be the one from the infinity site and not some other site.

both Y spots are 54.5 mhz clock.. doesnt matter. I would suspect maybe a cold solder joint on the bios wires. Redo them with flux paste.. make sure the connections are very secure.. tug the wire very lightly to make sure the connection is secure.. ive never seen a dead matrix.

Thanks for the tips, I'll re-check my bios pins, though I thought that bad bios pin connections caused BSOD (or that might be dms only?). Here's a pic of my install (the pic is large, so instead of puttin the image here, here's a link).
