    HI guys i have a ps2 with a v7 board and had a little accident when soldering the Y pount, the iron was too hot and took the place clean off the ps2 board...... is the ps2 ruined and is this point 100% nesscary???

    Follow the trace to the chipleg and solder onto the leg that the trace leads to.
    DON'T, and I CAN'T stress this ENOUGH solder onto the wrong pin, you may mess up the chip on the MB(while de-soldering) and have to order a new MB.
    Good luck
    P.S Use a 12-15 Watt iron...sharpening the tip will help a little bit, but be careful.

    hi ya, thanks for the reply penny but however i have already broke the chip on the motherboard ne suggestions on where i can get a new one

    If you broke the bios chip on the board, its time to replace the board. You can check with your local electronics repair shops and see if they have a stock of ps2 parts. then you want to get the exact board that you have, like if you have a GH-022, I know for fact that a GH-019 won't work. I'm pretty sure that if you have a GH-019, any other board won't work.

    If you can't find any one locally that has parts, you can either try ebay, or you'll have to get another ps2.
