This is my second attempt at installing this chip.

I almost managed to get the first ps2 working (a v3) but before I did I killed it.

Whist playing with it I tried to flash the bios but the progress bar didn't move.
Therefore the bios on the MI may well be corrupted.

I've installed it into a v9 into which I've also fitted a new laser.

V9 working fine with new laser prior to MI install

When I start the PS2 I don't get the MI logo, but I kinda wasn't expecting it due to the bios being suspect. But the PS2 does start and go to the browser.

When I try and load ANY disc it gives "disk read error", this includes original ps2 games plus firmware upgrade CD

Even if I try to disable the MI by holding the reset button on start, I still keep getting a read error.

I've tried to model my install on pictures from the site. The MI is sat adjacent to the BIOS chip and the bios wires are routed without crossing. I've used the alternate points for A,B,G,I as I didn't fancy soldering onto the pins of that large chip close to the BIOS. (how do you guys do that???!!!! )

Any ideas as to where the probem may lie??

    Cheers,

    Pete.

ABGI dont even need to be connected for the MI to work, it just wont boot games but you will still see the mi logo bootscreen. Check the bios wires, power/ground reset and Y. - NOTE : You can always recover from a bad flash with the following procedure:
Put Upgrade CD into PS2 and put PS2 into standby.
Press "reset button" and keep pressed until blue light turn ON (on V1-V11).
(For the V12 press reset button from standby for 2-3 seconds as there is no blue light).
Leave "reset button" and Upgrade CD will boot.
Follow on-screen instructions to complete the Upgrade procedures.
