    Playstation 2, version 7, PAL.
I installed Infinity chip ordered from mod-chip (seems original, no Modbo etc):

    Symptoms:
    * Inserting any disk (originals that worked before and backups) and Reset:
"Matrix" logo appears for a few seconds and disappears (black screen, for ever).
    * Reset while holding controller buttons triangle+circle:
Matix logo and than configuration menu appears.
    Version stated is v 1.5
Changes in setting are saved OK.
    * Changing the boot-options setting from "Auto" to "Fast" and reset:
"Matrix" logo appears for much longer (until DVD drive stops to read the disk) and than same black screen forever.
*Since I was not sure if the chip needs flashing, I burned a disk with version 1.54. It is "ignored" by the PS as any other disk (holding the Rest-button till light turns blue did not make any difference).

I repeatedly rechecked connections with multimeter (for connection or "bridges" I might have produced).

i found a discrepancy regarding the "Y" connection in the diagrams published by the manufacturer (http://www.infinitymod.com/matrix/fi...V08/PAL-V7.JPG) and that of my reseller ( see attached jpg file).
They use adjectent but not identical pins.

I tried both pins, but the symptoms remain the same.

    1. PLEASE help, I am stuck.
    2. Does the fact that I see the Matrix-logo and get the setup-screen mean that the mod-chip does not need to flashed to be functional?
    3. Which of the pins is correct for "Y" connection?
    4. What SHOULD I see next after the short appearance of the MATRIX-logo (in AUTO boot mode), the normal PS logo and browser?

    wow!

First of all welcome to the forum.
Second, people should learn from you while they post.
This is a good post. You give a lot of information and It might be easier for other people to help out.

    1) Yes, After the Matrix Logo you will see the PS2 start up normal.
    2) If you dont have a controller in port 1, the console will not boot. (atleast on a few models I think v7 is one of them)

I always use Y point from infinitymod and never had problems.
If you have multimeter, measure between them and check if they have continuty. If they have u can use either of them.

Can you post a pic of your install?

Sorry i cant help out more, but maybe some other ppl can.
I just wanted to say welcome :O

Remove and resolder the RESET , Y , SCEX , GND
You have problem in reset or Y wire ( i think ).
Use the Y from matrix team. Not from you supplier.

    (Thanks for the flowers )

Controler seems OK (otherwise I could not enter the configuration menu, could I?)

Regarding Y-point, I will stick to the infinitymod diagrams as you say. But again, this does not change my problem.

    Thanks

how does the system work with the chip disabled ?
    Start + power/reset

did you try to boot the system without a disk in the tray (if the laser can't read the disk fine) infinity waits for a long time to boot the system

Does the disk spin when it is inside the tray ?
i had it once that a screw was fallen on top of the laser wat did result in not reading any disk ,

sometimes you search on the wrong place while it can be something simple

    good luck mabcom

Espen, I have a v7 with an infinity installed and it will run even without the controller port plugged in. It just takes a little more time to boot up.

    Thanks mabcom,

Results are the same as with ANY disk (original PS2 disks, backups and the flash-update-disk):

    * When I insert the disk and Reset, I get Matrix logo for a few seconds and than a blank screen. I hear the disk drive spinning for a short while and then it stops.
    * When I try to press and hold "Start" before pressing Reset, I get the same result.
    * When I try to turn off and then press and hold Reset for a few seconds (1 to 20 seconds), I do not get the Matrix logo, but only the blank screen + the disk-drive-working-noise.

If there is no disk inserted, same results (though no disk-spin-noise ).
