some how my mod chip just stopped working!! i get an error saying please insert a playstation or playstation 2 format disc!! even says that for real games and for some dvds it doesnt load it goes to the screen that says browser n crud... it just happend! did touch n e crud or n e thing! i have a slim ps2 and i dont think that its a fake mod chip. i have matrix infinity and i dont no if its a blue/green dot thingy and yes im a noob
plz help if u can and tell me if u need more info tyvm

its quite possible it has blown the laser
do you know if a fix was applied to protect the laser

i think slim fix is installed... is that what that is?

yes the slimfix should be it.
look at laser and see if it looks hazy, it should be shiny and clear

well um... i just found out that it does play some dvds and ps1 games so i dont think its the lazer. what else could it be??

sounds like lasers ok, might need a clean
or would suggest that maybe a wire is loose and not making proper contact
try cleaning laser with q tip
if doesnt help then probably need to open and check chip wires

okay we opened up the PS2 and checked the wires and the modchip. Everything looked fine. I can get to the modchip menu screen by holding triangle and circle. and we tried original DVDs, burned DVDs, PS1, original PS2 and burned PS2 games
the original DVDs, original PS2 and burned PS2 games take me to the "please insert PS2 game screen" or sometimes to the browser menu saying "There is no data"
and same thing with PS1 games unless i boot them with the force PS1 games mode then they work.
is there a way to force PS2 games or something? What could be wrong with the ps2?
