I have the PS2 V9, MI chip installed and am just hearing about flashing? I have modded plenty of other systems, and I thought this mod was like the original PS. Sometimes games work other times they don't. Using sony DVD media. Alcohol 120%. Am I supposed to flash the firmware? if so, can anyone direct me to a guide.

Are you *SURE* it's an Original Matrix Infinity?
There are SO many clones out all, some called Matrix Infinity SE and other stupid names like that.

If you have an original Infinity, you can just download the Firmware upgrade image, burn it to a CD, pop the CD into your PS2 and it'll boot and give you the option to upgrade the FW.

FW upgrades aren't necessary, but they offer new features and bug fixes etc. This is the advantage of having a proper MI.

If you're happy with your chip, I wouldn't bother flashing it unless you are 100% sure it's an original MI chip and not a clone. Read the stick in this forum about clones.

Thanks for your reply. I am sure it is an original. I actually tried flashing the bios last night and it flashed, but made no difference. The problem is that it seems to boot and hang on the matrix logo screen. often I can reset it multiple times and it will work. Do you suspect the laser?
    Thanks
