    Hey there.

I haven't done much soldering in the past, but I managed to fairly cleanly install the Matrix Infinity into my V7. The logo pops up, and I can access the Infinity Menu (this menu says the firmware is 1.5) but backup PS2 games do not work, nor do backup PS1 games. Normal games work as usual. When I put the chip in, all of the wires appeared to be set up correctly. What should I attempt to do/look out for?

    Thanks in advance,
    Allan.

You really have to check the A,B,G,H,I wires for ps2 backups. For Ps1 backups you need also to add the SX wire.

That's an interesting point - I haven't wired up the G point because the diagram I am using doesn't show me where to wire it to. And the H point I am not using because it is not a japanese console.. but now another diagram I am using says that it is for non-US consoles, and mine is Australian... any thoughts?

you dont need g or h wire in a pal console either,
as already suggested just recheck every wire and give them a little tug to make sure they are properly secured.

    Allan.

I meant those points that apply from that bunch. Not all consoles use all wires.

Okay, I rechecked the board, and there was indeed a problem, I had routed the I pad to the H pad on the chip. I swapped it over, and it still doesn't work. The other wires SEEM to be okay, but I may have missed something vital here - exactly what should I be looking for, with the exception of connections that have went loose?

Its best to put some solder with flux on desoldering braid. Then put that braind over the pads that have the coating over them and heat it up a little. It will take the laquer right off leaving a nice clean white pad. Then just resodler the wire to it. Make sure youre wires are not extremely long. Its best to place the chip somewhere close to the mnop connections. remember, you dont have to use the ground from the diagrams. Use ground from where the screws go or anywhere around the motherboard. Check out some install pics that people have posted to get an idea. That is pretty much it.

Okay, I'll resolder the ones on pads, as I did not take the laquer off of them. Now, am I right to assume that since the chip fires up, that the bios wires (I'm assuming M,N,O,P,Q,T,U,V,R,W) are correct and working?
