You can jump from the oldest to the newest as far as I'm aware.

Just reached another problem, my firmware won't upgrade, so i'm guessing i have a clone chip. But i can access the menu holding triangle and circle, so maybe not. Everything is working perfectly at the moment so it's not worth risking an attempt at a firmware update is it?

same here stickweed.. my ps2 works perfectly with back-up ps2 games, but cant install the firmware.. it loads the screen where it says "press start to update firmware" but it stops there. i can quickly boot up ps2 games by pressing select so i dont think that it is a clone. can some one help me???

Exact same problem here too guys. All backups working great, no slowdowns or something, menu working too, fast boot, all the fixes too. However, after hitting Start button to start programming, it goes to Programming...0% and after that i get the unable to upgrade message.

I also dont think i have a fake one, because the prof that did my job showed the chip before he started doing anything.

Any hint would be really welcome

PS: Now im at 1.88 version, im not in the need to have the newest firmware, but if i can, and it is better, why not?

Update: I have also checked that i CAN disable the modchip. Pressing start results in a DISABLED screen and after a reset no backups work like there never was a modchip installed. Turning off the console brings back the chip to "life" too.

So all that suggest that i do have an original infinity installed... And since I can do everything that supposedly the infinity can, why can't I upgrade its firmware?

Just tried another burn (different label cd, x16 speed and using another burner) with v1.93 on but the same happens... Please im against a wall on this

try burning the upgrade cd at 8x because the info suggests 4x, also check to make sure that "y" connect is ok
