Fast Boot Rate

I'm having a problem with the fast boot type boot rate, sometimes I have to press reset a couple of times before I can get a game to boot. Works 100% on auto though, is there something wrong with the chip or my ps2? It's a V12 and the chip has the newest 1.82 firmware.
