yesssss it worked!!!
my first infinity... no idea it would be this troublesome... i did order a greendot... but mysteriously got an orangedot instead... grrr
i used my old swap magic cd to get the cd-r to boot hehe
thanks.... to both of you
Good job man!
hi.. i'm having similar problems but, it's on a V8... Orange dot..
I tried putting the Infinity manager on mem card and tried to load it on the V8 by Holding triangle.. or R1. and it doesn't load the memory manager..
without the controller plugged in I get the 10 second pause or whatever, so i think it is installed correctly. . continuity check with multimeter is good..
your orange dot should work in your V7/8 with the firmware it came with. Unless its a homebrew version which then you would just need to boot up the FW upgade disc in recovery mode. If you arent able to boot a upgrade disc I would first check my CDVD solder points. If they are correct you might suspect the laser. What exactly are the errors your getting?
did you rename it to BOOT.ELF?
supposed to be like this (mc0:BOOT/BOOT.ELF)
dev1 should autoboot it.
also try recovery mode like spedmetal said
thanks for the replies guys.. usually don't have a problem with installs, but this may be because it a homebrew one...
i tried the mem card install manager and it didn't want to go.. i tried on my ps2 and it worked fine.. also i removed all the wires and reinstalled with new wires... no visible bridges...
i'll try the recovery method with disc..
i don't get any errors. it boots originals fine... if i were to remove the controller, it does the 10 second controller search before it boots.
i'll try the few things and update.. not home now so i'll try later...
for me, i did notice the small lag before the ps2 splash (where the matrix logo was supposed to show up) didn't realize that it indicated that i installed it properly in the first place... it was driving me crazy because no logo showed up... and nothing booted... except for originals
i didn't know homebrew versions of the chip acted like no chip at all... they could have at least put the matrix logo so people know the install is good. i'm bangin my head now having stressed over nothing... and even going out to buy a multimeter haha
i had it working since the beginning! and you probably do too. u just need to find a way to load that firmware... dev1... or swap magic and you should be fine
woo hoo.. thanks guys.. you guys rock..
so i did the recovery with the firmware cd in and holding reset until it booted.. which took a while to load it, but it worked...
thanks for the help!
