External hard drive on a slimline?

I've got a slimline with the matrix infinitry chip updated with the latest firmware. I just read on teh site something about a DEV2 kit that allows you to hook up an external hard drive or something. The description is pretty vague and i haven't had much luck finding anything out about this.

I know that there are things like hdloader and USBextreme, but is it possible to hook up an external hard drive without all that when you have a chip? Thanks

Yes and no. You can attach a hd to your ps2. But this just works with V12 and V13 versions of the slimline. You need either hdcombo or hdconnect (both have to be soldered). HDLoader is just the essential software you need to launch the iso's from harddisc.
Using USBextreme together with a usb harddisc is crap (my opinion)
