Everything working except PS2 backups
Everything working except PS2 backups –
I've just modded a V9 model with the MI and for some reason i can't seem to play any PS2 backup's.
It does run PS1 backups and DVD movie backup's and ofcourse all original games.
I get the MI logo and i can access the configuration menu.
Oh, but i can't seem to update the firmware.
I press start and nothing happens.
I've checked all the solder points and everything looks good.
Might help if i knew which points are used for the PS2 backup's.
What happens/message do you get when you have a backup inserted?

Well, i resoldered all the points mentioned by DeathAngel, both on the chip and board...but still the same problem.
The screen i get when inserting a PS2 backup is "please insert playstation 2 format disc".
Still can't update the firmware either :S
(the points b,g and i are in the alternative place at the bottom of the board by the way)
I had to send in my PS2 for refocusing the laser when that happened to me...
My PS2 played original PS2 games on CD, but not from DVD at that time,
it played burnt DVD Movies and PS2 games.

Ok, these are quotes from the installation guide I got from mod - chip . com, I hope they can help you resolve your problem.
1.) I can see the Matrix logo but cannot load the OS upgrade software:
a.)Was the cd burned at 4x
b.)The laser may need to be adjusted or gone bad
c.)Check wires A,B,G,H,I,Y
d.)Try burning the cd using Maxell CD-R Pro(Taiyo Yuden)
2.)PS2 games fail to authenticate:
b.)Check your power and ground connections
c.)Ensure all wires are laid flat along the motherboard and do not cross each other more than once, except at the chip
d.)"A" is the CDVD OE signal wire, if it is too long , PS2 disc media may fail to authenticate
I noticed that you mentioned soldering b,g,i from the bottom?? Try stripping the wire and pushing it through the hole and soldering it that way.
checked it all and resoldered the b.g.i wires in the holes.

Ruled out all the points, i tested them with a multimeter.
What should i do?
try reburning the upgrade cd at 4X???
Well, it does boot the firmware cd but when i press start at the firmware screen it still doesn't do anything.
I tried adjusting the laser aswell...
