do I need a boot cd......

Just fitted a new matrix infinity chip to a uk pal 30001 ps2 and it powers up ok and I get the matrix screen which then goes (via a sony screen) to a screen with "BROWSER" and "SYSTEM CONFIGURATION" on it but the contoller is non responsive so as a newbie I'm guessing maybe I need a boot cd so I have downloaded the latest firmware update which I think is whats required but I'm struggling to follow how to burn to cd (bit thick I guess) and could do with a few pointers if possible or an idiots guide.

Any advice most welcome as I have a 7 year old hassling the s**t out of me for this ps2

if the system boots but you have no response on your controller
1 of your wires on the bios points are mixed up

i had this also once when i mixed up P and O
matrix logo appaered but now response of my controller

its easy m8, the files u donwloaded contains a bin&cue file.

simply open up the cue file in NERO and burn it.

have put in the firmaware update cd but it now goes to a screen that asks for a ps or ps2 format disc and the controller is still non responsive

Help I'm a bit of a green horn to this but i'm not sure how you tell what v a system is my mate has an older system (2000) and wants to know what V it is so how do you tell is it on the console or the software or what??????
