Disable sleep mode on modbo chip

Is there any way to disable the sleep mode on a modbo chip? I'd much rather risk it overheating than being completely unable to swap disks.

on modbo v2 and above you hold select on bootup i think but i dont have any experiance with older modbos

Holding select just does a fast boot, skipping the floating blocks intro. I'm beginning to think the only solution is to look for another chip. *sigh*

So much more trouble than it's worth.
