dead matrix?
dead matrix? –
11-21-2005,02:10 AM
i've been using my ps2 with matrix since march 04. today i put in a backup copy and it wouldnt load. i dont get the Matrix boot screen or anything. as if it isnt there. just rechecked the connections of the mod, but everything seemed fine. the only thing dubious is the ground connection on my laser saver that came with the matrix when i bought it.
and i re-soldered that just to make sure. how can i check the fuses? does anyone have a schematic of where they are on the board?...and i just tried playing an original and all i got was the drive making a weak attempt to spin. so what i have now is a ps2 v12jap that does not recognize the matrix. its as if it wasnt there. and the disk drive wont spin properly. what can i do?
i should add that when i turn on the machine, there is a brief flash of a black screen as if it is engaging the chip but then flashes again and goes back to normal ps2. i never see the boot screen.could i have turned off the chip?

this is picture of one of my fuses. does the white-ish corrosion-y area mean its fried? can i replace this or should i just start crying? its 'B114S' and in the fuse diagram above, says resettable. how hard are these to come by?

From what I see, you used 30AWG for ground, you should use something bigger like 22 or 20. Also, anything is replaceable on the board so don't despair. I'd start looking for this type of fuse if I were you.

What site can i order that part from? (the 'TH4001') i'm currently living in japan and cant find anywhere that sells the parts, and its not from a lack of looking. now i've given in and just want to order it online, shipping be damned. who sells this specific unit? anyone have a favorite site?

Hi, I have the exact same problem with a V12 USA, but mine doesn't spin at all. I checked all the connections of the matrix and the laser saver and they are ok. Does it have to be a fuse that has been burnt? because my motherboard doesn't have any white line like his/hers.
Thanks a lot...

unsure what exactly the fuse does, but its burnt and i cant find anything else wrong. mine wont spin at all either. it gave a half-hearted attempt once, then just quit for good. finding a replacement part is becoming enough of a hassle im thinking about buying a new ps2 and remodding it. to hell with 360 for now.
