Hi guys, i have a serious problem here.
I installer a MI orange dot on my V7 last night. The MI was prepatched 1.5 and everything went fine. I tested out all kinds of games, ntsc, pal, backup, original. Just worked. Then i burned a 1.75 update CD and booted the update. When it was finished, it told me to press any key and so did I. Rebooted, blackscreen. No matter what I do, always black screen . The only thin I can do is ti start in recovery mode, the ps2-bios would come up, then I pop in (any kind of) disc and get a BSOD again. Help me please.

    download firmware 1.54
    reburn new update cd
boot in recovery mode and reflash to 1.54
    sounds like a bad flash
could try reflashing with the 1.75 but could be a bad burn
    Many have asked

well, no,it´s not working. When i boot the ps2 bios, i open the browser, i put the update cd in and the ps2 shows me an icon with a data cd. but when i open it, i get BSOD. Same thing happens when i boot the ps2 with the disc already inside. I get a bs right away. I burned 5 cd´s already, at different speets and with different versions..

He said boot in recovery mode, do you know how to do that?

I forget the exact instructions, but basically (with the PS2 off) you hold down the power button for about 2 seconds until the blue light turns on. This forces the modchip to boot the firmware update CD.

You should be able to reflash the ModChip this way.

    Hope this helps.

Understood. but when i press the power button for 3 secs, wait for the blue light to come up, i get a black screen with the update cd inside and without a disc i get the normal ps2 menu which i consider to be the "rescue mode".

He said a MI with orange dot. I don't think so it's a clone. Clones doesn't have color dots. They're using a different name like NH9, Modbo, Myth etc...

sorry for the break. @dungbeetle: Please understand my problem: I know how to boot in recovery mode, but i cannot SEE whats going on when the cd is booting. I tried to make a "blind" update, that is booting, waiting some minutes, then pressing start, waiting again. It didn´t work either. And for the burners: I used cdrdao (linux) and alcohol (win). But I doubt that´s the reason. The md5 was okay in every case. I have to go to work now, but i plan to open up the b**ch tonight. Maybe some wire got loose. CU and thank you for your help!

OK. I made it. It was not the update. It was a hardware fault probably because of some screws squeezing some wires together too hard. Due to some strange coincidence this thing started to mess things up just in that moment when i made the update. Weird, but thats my only eplanation. Anyway, thanks for your replys!
