Is it dead?

I installed a real matrix infinity. but i'm having problems getting the ps2 to turn on. The red standby light goes on when i plug it in then i press the power button. it turns green for a second then turns red again.

I had some difficulty getting my solder to stick to the alternate g,h,i, and b points. Hope that's the problem. If it is i could use some tips on how to get the solder to stick to the little circles cause it doesn't want to.

(p.s. i have a v9 ps2 and a grounded soldering iron.)

check all your ribbon cables, check all fuses and maybe you could post a pic of your install see if anything can be spotted

I've just resoldered each point and checked the conductivity with my multimeter.

My cable for the power button was loose. i'm hoping that's all it was

i plugged it in and it's still acting up

is there nobody willing to try and help me?

I say one of your points is grounding out. You may want to get a good magnifying glass and inspect all the points thouroghly

I have one. I've been using it to solder. Wouldn't that show up on the multimeter? I also removed all the wires from the modchip and it worked like normal. but as soon as i attach the mod it doesn't work. I can't figure it out.

Yes, that would be a more relyable way to go. Check the resistance between the ground and each pad on the chip while its still installed. If the resistance drops down to zero, or damn close to it, thats the wire you need to check further.

i think i'm going to call it a night i'll try that out tmrw.

I'm thinking it might be one of the points underneath the chip. I'm going to put some electrical tape underneath it and try it again tmrw.

Holy crap, you didn't insulate the botton of the chip? You may want to do that becuase it's more than likely shorting out on your mobo.

And no prob on the help.
