Can not boot PSX (originals or backups)?
Hello everyone. I've had a few ups and downs (mostly downs) with my MI installation so far. But I've finally got things running pretty smoothly. Except one thing.
PS2 Originals, PS2 backups, DVD9's, Audio CD's, etc. It all works flawlessly. Except PSX games. I can't get any original or backup PSX games to play at all. If I turn on the system with one in it it will just go to a black screen after the PS2 startup animation and hang there forever. If I boot to the browser, and then insert a PSX disc, it will read for a moment and then display a black disc icon properly identified as a "Playstation Disc". If there happens to be an audio track on the PSX disc as well (Castlevania: Symphony of the Night has one for example) then I can properly read and play that.
Now, if I disable the chip and reboot with a PSX disc I get an animated screen similar to the PS2's startup animation but red and it reads "Please insert a Playstation or Playstation 2 format disc." If the disc has an audio track like I said before, then it will boot directly to that track and the browser will improperly recognize the disc as an "Audio CD".
In the end, I could probably live without PSX games, but I do feel kind of gyped. Can anyone suggest anything to check in to? Could someone tell me what wire(s) from the modchip have to do with PSX playback so I could specifically check it for a bad joint, etc?
By the way, it's a green dot on a V12.1. Thanks.
