ok, i just got my mi and figured i'd go ahead and install it(going on 24 hours). It is in and i've double and triple checked all my connections which look ok. My system will boot (but not with the standby button. it wont work either power on or reset, but using eject to.) and the chip wont boot and also the system will not read any disc, pressed or backup. Video and sound do work along with the controllers and mc's. Could someone please tell me what i could have done wrong?

edit: moved ground. now system boots up fine but not chip. acts like its not there.

Try pressing triangle and circle to see if the chip is active.

tried. still nothing on it.. going to check the +3.3v connection and see if its good.

edit: Checked hot and ground wires - chip is getting power, tested with multimeter while on. would a bad connection on one of the other wires cause it to do this?

get some flux and spread it over the splash, get a desoldering braid and put it over the spot. Try your hardest to not get it over the base of the legs where the IC is soldered to the PCB. In your picture it looks like its more towards the top of it so your all good. this should work good for you.

Hope you get everything working right

When this happens to me, (typically on the bios legs) I like to use some super small solder and my smallest tip to reapply some solder after removing the splash with braid. Often times, the braid will take all the solder off the affected pads, and so there won't be a connection to those pins anymore.

ok.. got it cleaned out and installed, but back to square one with the chip not activating but the system boots fine. I tested all points on the chip to see if there is current going through and all tested a little over 3v. Any suggestions?

edit: now video and sound are gone. This one is getting ready to go into the trash.
