All of a sudden will not boot backups? (UPDATED WITH PICTURES)
All of a sudden will not boot backups? (UPDATED WITH PICTURES) –
Alright, so I have a problem.
Its been working fine until now.
I just discovered how to get to the Infinity options menu. So I go in by pressing o+triangle and look around, change one option:
Pad Detect from 10 to 2.
Look around all the other options by pressing X but leave the rest the same.
Now the problem starts.
I try to boot up a backup and it spins it a little bit but then it stops the CD (I can tell by the noises it makes, the lid is closed) and leaves the screen black.
Sometimes it takes me to the default PS2 screen (Browser, Configuration) which then takes me to the "Insert a valid PS disc" screen.
I've already tried putting all the Infinity settings back to normal, but it still does the same.
What else can I do? Thanks.

Reason: Fixing a Mispell. #2
try to reflash it and get back in to options if you cant axx the chip any more sounds like you got a Fake matrix chip....
I haven't flashed to begin with.
I can't try to reflash it because it will not boot the flash CD...
How can I open the PS2 Slim to check if its a clone? Tried looking for a wlakthorugh but cant find one.

Alright so I only have one question after reading through the forums (extensively).
Could it be anything else BUT a clone chip? Could it be any other problem?
I was going to open the psTwo today but I dont have a small enough screwdriver for the metal case surrounding the board.
I already sent off an email to the modder though.
I very much doubt it's anything other than a clone.
You played with the settings and it died... A very very sure sign of a clone.
almost 100% sure its a clone. only option is to replace the chip.
Alright so its definitely a fake. I opened it up to check and see. Not only is it a fake, but its a crappy job too. I wish I knew about this site before I bought this piece of crap.
I've contacted the seller and I've told her that I want a refund or to send it back to get it repaired with a real MI chip.
If they won?t take the return, what you can do is get a real matrix infinity, desolder the wires from the clone chip only, then straighten out the wires and cut a few shorter and resolder the ends to the real matrix chip. You can use a hot glue gun to keep the wires in place and so they won?t cross over each other. That loop in the gnd and 3.3 wires has to go. This should work since the points are the same.
Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I don't think my first soldering project should be my PSTwo. I might end up burning through the board onto the ground underneath.
I already packed up the unit and I'm ready to return it as soon as she gives me confirmation to do so. I'm really hoping she just refunds my money so I could get a Premodded one from one of the modders here. After seeing their work I find this one to be disgusting! If she tells me that she will install the actual real chip this time Ill be sending her pictures of the work from people here and suggest she revises her level of craftmanship.
did they tell you it was a real matrix infinity and what site did you order from?
