    I accidentally turned my ps2 to VGA mode and I don't even have the VGA adaptor. Now when I try to turn it on the screen turns black for a second and then it completely goes off. Is there something I can do to fix this or did I completely screw up my ps2?

    NOTE : If you enable VGA mode in the config screen and your adapter or monitor is
    not working properly, you will be stuck with a black screen. To return to
    the normal functionality just reflash your infinity using recovery mode.
    Read "UPGRADING INFINITY" section in this text file for instructions on
    how to enter recovery mode and reflash your infinity.
    UPGRADING INFINITY:
    - Insert the burned CD into the PS2 and press reset.
    The CD should boot authomatically and you will be presented with the Upgrade Screen.
    - Follow instructions on screen to upgrade Infinity.

    - NOTE : You can always recover from a bad flash with the following procedure:
    Put Upgrade CD into PS2 and put PS2 into standby.
    Press "reset button" and keep pressed until blue light turn ON (on V1-V11).
    (For the V12 press reset button from standby for 2-3 seconds as there is no blue light).
    Leave "reset button" and Upgrade CD will boot.
    Follow on-screen instructions to complete the Upgrade procedures.
    Try here.

    Well, I'm not really an expert in this, but maybe power cut during firmware upgrade has damaged your mod-chip. Maybe you should ask some of modders around the forum.

    I don't think so, that's why there's recovery mode. Try putting the chip to recovery mode and boot the upgrade CD.

    You can always recover from a bad flash by entering recovery mode.
    This will let you boot the upgrade disc to reflash your Infinity.

    To enter recovery mode:

    V1-V12 and V14 PAL :
    ====================

    Hold the reset button until the blue eject light turns on.

    V14+ USA and JAP
    ================

    USA : Hold reset until blue eject lights turn on, wait 3 seconds and
    tap reset again.

    JAP : Hold reset until blue eject lights turn on, wait 3 seconds and
    tap reset, wait 3 more seconds and tap reset again.

    if you axxed vga mode, try this..
    i thought i f00ked up my ps2 too
    1.get the firmware upgrade cd
    2.boot the ps2 up with the firmware cd inside
    3.wait like 4-10 seconds for the cd to boot, press start
    4.wait another 20-30 seconds for the programming to be done
    5.press reset
    now the chip will have all the default settings and the black screen SHOULD be gone
