What am I doing wrong?
What am I doing wrong? –
A month or two ago I tried out USBAdvance with my pen drive and a few games that won't work on my HDD. It worked fine. I used the pen drive for a few other things and USBAdvance quick working. No problem, (I thought) I'll just reformat the drive and put the games back on it. I tried what I thought I did a month ago but I can't get it to work again.
This is what I think I did:
1. format the pendrive to NTFS using windows vista
2. format the pendrive to FAT32 using windows vista
3. added the games to the drive using either USBUtil ver 1.02 or ver 2.0, I don't remember if I used the disks or iso files created by Roxio
Now when I run USBAdvance, it sees the game on the pendrive, but gets stuck on "please wait... loading title". I don't even see the light on the pendrive light up at all.
I am using:
fat ps2 ver9 with a modchip
8gb pendrive - pny attache 8g
USBUtilities 1.02 or 2.0
The frustrating part is that this was all so easy a month ago - I know it should work!
I've tried with the modchip turn off - no difference.
When i format the pendrive it asks for allocation size, does that make a difference? I've been using default size, 4096 I think. Is there a difference between quick format or full format? I don't know what else to try.
Games I'm trying:
Star Wars Racer Revenge
Ratchet and Clank (the first one)
Sorry for the long post but I'm trying to include all the information.
hey which modchip you have ?
btw you can now use OpenPS2Loader instead of USBAdvance .
the modchip is nothing fancy, I think its a duo 2 SE.
OpenPS2Loader looks interesting. When I try it now, it recognizes the game but when I try to load it goes pink then green then gray and stays there. But I don't know if the game I'm trying even works on OPS2L, I know it worked on USBAdvance.
I think its the formatting that is the issue here. Im not sure how Vista formats flas drives, but maybe try using the USB Extreme utility to format your drive instead of Windows.
Using the USB Extreme ul_format.exe (its a command line app) will definitely format it to to FAT32 with the correct formatting required by USB Advance. Then you can use the USBUtil 2.0 to install your games. You should also be able to use Open PS2 Loader, but your modchip might interfer with it working properly, so you may need to disable it with Open PS2 Loader.
With Open PS2 Loader, many games now work without any patches or fixes applied to the games and there are modes available to try on games that arent working. Its much better than USB Advance overall and is still under development, leaving room for further improvements yet to come.
