Hello,im spanish and im new at this web, yesterday i went to a friends house for "hacking" ps2 for playing games with a memory card and a usb hdd. It worked everything good but when i tried to convert the game iso file to a ps2 game with usbutil happened this:

    in english it means:
"the file cant be read/written,in white or in use"

Does anybody know how to make it work?
Sorry about my english, and please dont forget that im a noob and i dont speak english very well.

    Thanx

What happens if you restart your PC, after reading/dumping the ISO?
Is the ISO 'accessible' after a restart?
Where is the ISO stored at?

Yes, the restart was to 'free them from all accesses (by other programms)'...
    Sorry, no clue.

You might as well try it on a different PC or another 'USB-Util v2'-Version (2.0 English for example).

    Yes, of course...

    1. Use 1st-Class-Media (I suggest either Verbatim 16xCertified or TayoYuden.).
    2. Use IMGBurn and use the AWS-Burnspeed-Setting.
    3. Post more info...

-What have you used for reading and writing the image.
    -Which ESR-patcher have you used?
-Which kind of DVD-Type have you used (newer use rewriteable discs and PLUS-Type-DVDs must be 'booktyped' to be compatible to all PS2s).

IT ALWAYS REPORTS THE FILE HAVE BEEN USED

for reading writing the image ive used img burn. when i play it in ps2.the screen becomes black and nothing happens. I used this one "ESR Disc Patcher v0.24a" and i used verbatim dvd+r(rw) 4.7gb and i writted it at 2,4x(speed)
ill tried AWS Speed and it didnt work, ill download another game and try it cause maybe the only 2 games that ive got are broken.if i put the first backups at the ps2 the screen becomes black forever but if i put the AWS one the screen becomes black for a few seconds and after it brings me again to the ps2 principal menu
    THANX FOR HELPING ME

    That's somewhat crazy...

Btw.: My answer about 'only FMCB' was somewhat incomplete...
You still need to have the ESR.ELF installed, but it is still possible to run burned games with FMCB 'only' (meaning 'no modchip needed').

for reading writing the image ive used img burn. when i play it in ps2.the screen becomes black and nothing happens.
    Does it show a message?
If yes, it didn't start the ESR-ELF, but the PS2's DVD-Player...

I used this one "ESR Disc Patcher v0.24a" and i used verbatim dvd+r(rw) 4.7gb and i writted it at 2,4x(speed)
    1. Verbatim are a good choice (when they are original).
    2. What now? +R, or +RW? I told ya before,... Never use RW's on a PS2. You will destroy your laser! Don't give a **** on that printing on your PS2-Package, which suggest it to be RW-Compatible (if you have one of those newer Versions, SCPH-500xx and newer). The PS2s DVD-Drive is utter crap, sorry... Also,... If you have an older PS2-Version, than SCPH-500xx, the DVD+R's must be 'booktyped' to DVD-ROM, or simply use DVD-R's.
    3. Verbatim have a max. CERTIFICATION-Speed of 20x, so the best result's you will get with around 10x-speed (depending how good your dvd-writer can calibrate the laser-power). Don't burn so utterly slow.
Burning DVDs is a photo-chemical process, like the 'film' in an analog camera...

Btw.: Laptop-DVD-Writers don't produce results as good as from Desktop-PCs.
Try a normal 5,25"-DVD-Writer for a PC and not those slim-dvd-writers from notebooks...

So now,... We only need to find out if you have the ESR.ELF installed and which one of those DVD's is 'better burned/written'.

    Atleast one less problem.

but when i put the HDD at the ps2 the games dont appear.
Erm,... I forgot,... Have you mentioned yet, that you activated the USB-Device (or any other device) in OPL's settings?
Try to set it to both, 'Manual' and 'Auto'.

2.- it just goes to the menu, i press launch disc it says loading and becomes black or brings me back to the menu...
Not sure about that,... I guess, it has problems reading or identifying your disc.

    3.-i used exactly this dvd:
    ~
Yepp, so this is o.k., since it is not an RW (= ReWriteable), but only R (= Recordable).
But it is of the PLUS-Type, whereas I already told you that if you have a PS2-Model prior to SCPH-500xx, it will not recognize it if you dont 'booktype' it.

Some additional info would be good:
    -PS2-Model (SCPH)
-DVD-Writer-Model and if it is updated to latest Firmware.

4.-i dont know how to find ESR.elf but this is de HDD content:
ESR.ELF (in capital letters and yes, that makes a difference on PS2... Not all 'operating-systems' ignore that like Windows...)!
...and normally it is installed to the BOOT-Folder, when you used the Nooby-Package for your FMCB-Install...

...or have you used the plain FMCB and now added your apps on your own???

    THANX FOR HELPING ME!
    I try it...
Let's hope there is a solution to your problem.
