Stopping FMV's from skipping with USBadvance might be possible?
I was playing Black today using USB advance, and I noticed that the videos play with out any stuttering. The audio seemed a little out of sinc, but I figured this just how the videos for this game normally are, so I looked further into it, and notice that the videos are in a type of mpeg format rather than the normal .pss video file most games use. My best guess is that for some reason the usb 1.1 can play these types videos without any delay unlike the .pss format.
I havent looked to much into it, but from what I have read there is way to rip the .pss file from the game, and convert them to mpeg video (.M2V) to be exact.
So my thought is that it would be possible to convert the file and replace them, making the FMV's on usbextreme watchable. It may seem like alot of work, but for some games it might be worth while.
If anyone else would like to comment, or experiment with this please feel free to respond.
UPDATE: So I tried converting the .pss file from the game Garfield, and The Simpsons - Road Rage, similar to Black. I was unable to get the videos to play (it must be how black is programed, or some other forces are at work.) I did however find that ripping the videos completely much like with PSX rips will still allow the game to play. This is very usefull with games like Road Rage for example, where the opening video will cause the game to crash. It still might somehow be possible to get the videos to play, I'm not gonna look into it right now though, since I feel removing the videos completely is enough of an improvement.
