I have 60gb Seagate Hard Drive (Connected With USB Enclosure), I firstly Deleted all the partitions and then created one full size partition not leaving any unallocated space, I formatted that to the FAT32 format. Everything goes well my PS2Slim detects it and also the uLauncher and as well as the OpenPs2Loader (But a while whenever i play any game through it hangs) the last hope left is USBADVANCE but the fact is that is not detecting my hard drive.
This is What I Have Already:
    1) PS2Slim ( With Modified Chip)
    2) FMCBoot 1.8

As I Have The Latest Version Of FMCBoot, So it Has Upto Date USBD.IRX and other related files for USB Detection....

I Knew that it is not a modchip prob, i had used 8gb usb flash with usbadvance before, but this time iam using hard disk with usb enclosure to speed up game performances but in vain... i think so usbadvance need to be updated with usb drivers as Ulauncher in FMCBoot 1.8 ( uses latest usbd.irx)

I don't think that usbadv is the problem (and that thing whith the .irx at all). I also had issues with recognition of one HDD with usb enclosure but after I reformatted it with the USBUtil or USBExtreme (I can't remember which exactly) everthing was running smooth.

And one more thing - don't count on the hdd with usb enclosure to be faster than the usb or in other words - if your usb-case'd hdd isn't with it's own power supply it won't be faster (or an usb hub with own psu). I think that a flash drive (which is a ssd chip) consumes less power than a hdd

Have you ever did a defrag to your drive to be sure that it isn't freezing from that?

i did my best.... Still Getting a Statement "Please insert USB" in USBADVANCE,
I dont know what is the matter if my hardisk had any fault or it was not properly formatted then it wouldnt had been detected by Ulauncher ,SMS, and OpenPS2loader ( Actually a bought a modified ps2 so i dont know which chip it contains as far as i know it is not compatible with openps2loader as it hangs whenever i start any game)... I heard that 0.7 version of openps2loader has been launched i saw here opl.sksapps.com.

I'm not familiar with the OPS2L (since I've used it 3 days ago for the first time) but if OPS2L freezes when trying to run a game and USBAdv not finding the drive I think it's something wrong with the partition or the images you're trying to play... OR the mod chip you have is the problem - try to find out exactly what type it is and how to temporary disable it and try again.

Since there isn't anything as a sollution for you at the moment - if I were you I was going to begin everything from scratch... Delete the partition, format it again (I'm almost sure that I've used the USBExtreme) then transfer the images with USBUtil. Since the developer of the OPS2L has stated that the patches aren't needed - try without patching anything (if you have done it the first time)...

I havn't got any issues with many USB Flash drives (2/4/8/16GB PQI U339H and 4/8/16GB A-Data PD4) also no problems with Transcend 2.5" HDD (don't know the model - it's the one with the rubber outfit and black button on top) and WD MyPassport 2.5". The one and only drive which caused me some troubles was a 3.5" Seagate ST3500320AS (500GB/SATA/32MB Cache) which I've placed in a SATA>USB case with it's own PSU but as I said - I've reformatted and everything was back to normal

Agreed, I could give further info on how to disable and test the issues if I where to know what chip you where using..
Even though baiggee stated that its not a chip issue (however its good to try to disable the chip for testing just to make sure)

Also this thread will be moved to "USB HDD Discussion" as the issue is not IDE related..
