I'v problems too. I'v user an hitachi 20gb 2'5" in a usb 2.0 enclosure from Transcend. Usb Advance detects HD, detects games in it , but when i select a game it hangs on 'game loading...'
I'v used another 4gb Quantum 3'5" old disk i'v in a usb 2.0 enclosure for 3.5" disks, but no Hard Disk detectected, it tells me "no usb device"...
Noone here knows why i cannot run it? Thnx in advance...
Sorry, let me tell u what i have: ps2 silver, with messiah II 1.3
USB Advance doesn't look very good to me. I tried 5 games :
Final Fantasy X-2
Xenosaga 2 (Disc 1)
Dance Dance Revolution Max 2
Soul Calibur 2 (patched AND unpatched)
In Phantom Brave I had a never ending loading screen.
Only I-Ninja worked... the loadings were similar of those from the dvd/cd, but the FMV were playing badly..
In all other games, nothing at all!
no offence but u fool....as if a 20gb hd would work?! thats like crap u can prolly put in like 5 or 6 dvd games....go get a good 80gb harddrive at least.....and why would u try a 4gb harddrive?! u cant even fit one dvd game onto it^^;; think b4 u say stuff dude...
Nice first post, flaming. 4GB can hold plenty of games if they are CD's. I've got about 9 games that are CD and would take up only about 4GB, and not everyone sits around playing games all the time and needs a huge HDD in their PS2. Don't insult people and make sure to think before you post, cause there are plenty of DVD games under 4GB as well...whos the fool now?
To answer the original posters question, are they all properly formatted? Try using the PC tools for this.
hahaha^^;;... ..i think i went a little overboard^^;; hahah^^:
but isnt there a minimum requirment for hd capacity?? or is it just hdloader?
dude stfu if u dont know anything , how lame can u be , saying sum1 should think what they say and then come here and dont know where u talking about..
ISNtit hdloader ? man poor n00b
Nice Flaming. If you have nothing nice to say, or anything relevent, there is no reason to speak. As for our original problem:

Oh and r0c0, i wouldnt try saying something that would make you look more like a complete jerk. People may consider not helping you. Just A Suggestion.
