in think its possible but you know the USBHDD its too slow for running games and many games wont run..
so the best method till now is HDcombo www.Hdcombo.com
(which is only for v12,13)

alsso there is another method direct connect (Compatible with v12-v13 USA, EUR, JAP PlayStation 2 consoles (NTSC and PAL). )
so breifly the two methods are not compatible with your console so sorry ..
iam telling you again you may want to use USB HDD .but its sucks for playing games off hdd.

format it to Fat32
and not all usb thumb drive are compatible with ps2

for ps2 v12,13 the hdcombo is the best method (till now)
