well i have always used on ps2 when i had it and used many hdd on them never failed me down and its a gui.

when i play those avi before format it again in vlc(pc) many of them played but not all (need repair in vlc) why not sms!!

is that my hd fault or other and ya when ever i click to safly remove my hd then it show error <windiow might using any program> how to over come this???

what resolution are you transcoding into? if it's wider than 720, the file won't play on SMS. I know many of you think 720p as in height, but that's not the case. The PS2 can only handle so much resolution, so you may have to shrink your videos down to size in order for them to play.
