A few "noob" questions

Hi, im new to the ps2 modding scene however i have been modding console for a while now so am not new to modding. A friend has asked me if i could possibly mod his ps2, and so i have a few questions:

Ps2 Fat Model: SCPH-50003 PAL

Is it possible to use an external harddrive in order to play game backups? I know you can use an IDE harddrive however it would be simpler for my friend if its possible to use an external harddrive.

Can anone link me to a guide explaining how to use an external usb harddrive if so? Remember the ps2 is a FAT ps2.

If your friend don´t need the advancements chips still have, he could use FMCB and ESR.

but the best and if he wants to play games off hdd tell him to get Network Adapter and use HDLoader intead of USBAdvance which will be able to use Internal HDD
