I feel ya on that. My old PS1 still has the mod chip (MM3) I installed in it years ago. Still works like a champ.

Its amazing how PS1s are still around and out live 360s (especially the xenons).

No modchip, i use this:
I remember using that particular swap disk when I actually had the PSone hehe - brings back good gaming memories
Speaking of PlayStation games, I used to play them on ePSXe a few years back, but since I started PC gaming in 2007/2008, I stopped completely
PSX games will never look or feel as good on an HDTV of any kind compared to a good flat CRT TV.
There are a few reasons:
1. HDTV won't ever have such vibrant colors, good contrast or scanlines like a CRT TV. LCD HDTV are by far the worse choice you could ever make.
2. HDTV is widescreen and in most cases nobody will switch to 4:3 aspect ratio to avoid black borders right and left... (pretty stupid idea imo) This will lead to a stretched/squished image.
3. HDTV will need to upscale and convert interlaced signal into progressive. This will lead to more latency. Just try to play wipeout with such a setup...
4. The low resolution provided by the PSX console will make any game look... I can't even find a good term to describe how bad on an HDTV no matter what Hi end upscaler it may have onboard.
Either if you play a PSX game on your PS1, PS2, or a PS3, those are good choices as long as you make sure you connect those to a good quality flat CRT TV through an RGB SCART cable.
You won'y get a better picture quality than that from a PSX game no matter what. So, a CRT TV is the way to go. There is NOTHING to replace the CRT TV with PSX games...
