Yes, that's probably the best thing for me to do. And there should be quite a lot of video game shops in this city (Stockholm is our capital after all) apart from the ones I usually frequent, so maybe I can find one that still carries a good assortment of PS1 stuff.

I was only mentioning the downloaded copies due to testing them. As I can't test them fully because I don't have any pal games in which I apologize.

Yes. But these copies have served their purpose. I was looking for the fact that they stop the drive motor and wait for user interaction to load the game.

@ dlanor - Well, I've been unsuccessful locating pal verions of AR, but I have found that the Xploder 4.02.000 (PAL) that I mentioned is identical in every aspect except the name to a codebreaker 4.02.000 (NTSC). This includes the program waiting like it should for the user to press a button to start the game.

Wasn't there a few version of Caetla ROM's around that were used for swappping and could be flashed to both AR and Xplorer carts?

Xianiax should know about this kinda stuff seeing as that's how I found his original site :D

My bad, I missed a big chunk of the discussion and assumed we were discussing the hardware based AR's and not the disc based ones.

Nice find. I have a gs that plugs in the back of the ps1. I'd love to figure out how to flash it with a new bios for swapping. Much appreciated on this.

Edit - after a little reading and a download, I think I figured it out.

@ dlanor - If you have access to one of these gameshark/Action Replay/Caetla like this, it may be a worthwhile solution.

It probably would be, but I never even saw any such units 'in the flesh' over here, and finding one at this time is probably much harder than finding a suitable swap disc. But I'll naturally keep my eyes open for either.

True. I do know where to find about 4 or 5 of them at the moment. As for compatibility, it may plug into the back of the pal system, but after reading that site through, I've found that to re-flash its bios, it requires a hard to find specialized item. A PC Comm Link. And for a one time use, and $11.99 being the cheapest I could find this device, it is a bit cost prohibitive.

But like I said a few posts ago, Xploder 4.02.000 looks to be the best bet.

The Xploder/Xplorer connected via the old printer ports and didn't require any special comms hardware which in a way gave it an edge over the earlier AR units.
