    Hey all

for reasons of insanity or something like that i have a desperate need/desire to install a Paralell port into my mini PSOne SCPH-101 system

I have the kit already, and i have a picture of connection points, but the socket and chip will not fit right where it's supposed to...

i'm looking for *ANYONE* who has any idea how someone could go about making this work. The kit's socket would fit, but then you couldn't reassemble the PSOne...i'm thinking what i need to do is either

    A) find a good spot for the thing and tape it down, using wires to connect the socket to the chip

    B) build an exterior "case" and place the socket in there, attaching that to the outside of the PSOne

    C) attempt to reverse engineer this thing and make something that would actually work

looking at the board/socket kit, it looks as if a lot of my problems could be solved by inverting the way the whole thing goes, but leave the socket the way it was....the problems might also be solved by carefully soldering a wire to each of the 68 pins of the ribbon cable....not my idea of fun

It is important for me to have the port back as i am using it for something in particular...anyone who can provide any info or tips or anything, please respond.

    thanx all

you could try leaving it in the psone and take the case off of whatever you want to put on the port or you could cut a custom hole

the problem is that if i do that the system no longer is portable...and it's pretty close to unusable since the mod is so big, the shielding and cd-rom stablizers won't fit back in it

I also would like to put a Paralell Port on my PS-one.... I was thinkin about putin the parelell port on the under side of the console.... Its just a thoought.. Plus if you do that you'll have to Solder the wires from the kit to the under side of the main board, witch sounds like a pain.. But at least it would still be mobile...

P.S. What site was The Paraell port kit at... I remember seein it but stupped me, I didnt Book mark it!... O-well, Later

i picked up my kit at chipzone.com. if you choose to order from them, let me know. I have a coupon but really didn't see anything else i wanted beyond 1 item, and i can't use the coupon to just get that (has to be a purchace of $15 or more)

i wouldn't do the underside of the system since that makes it somewhat difficult to add a battery pack....my idea was for the side, however unless someone re-designs the Kit, it won't happen....the damned thing is just too big

If anything you can always leave it hang on the back side of the console.. but that would crappy... Sorry man I quess where out of luck, but no matter, Ill still give it some thought.. There as to be some how to install that thing so it wont be in the way....

    Sorry man,

if it goes on the back, you'd have to be really creative....otherwise you won't be able to use the LCD screen

it's a bitch, and i know i shouldn't want to do it...but i really miss my paralell port gameshark pro

    it's okay man...thank you

the port would require you to cut a lil into the shell no matter where you put it...the side seemed easiest...allowing you to keep the use of both the screen and the power pack

i couldn't find one for cheaper than what i got it for
