As the subject says PSOne don`t recognise joypad, however joypad respond on turning into analog mode(diode "analog" turns on). I suppose some fuse is blown(I had the same problem with PSX 7502 and solved it sucessfuly by replacing fuse), but I don`t have any service manual for PSOne, so please someone help me to locate that blown fuse. My PSOne motherboard is first(older) version and it`s for PAL tv system.

check joypad on other PSX or good joypad on your PSone .
if ok -check all pins of the Pad connector for short circuit to GND
for that connector, and data lines are protected with zener diode marked "D101" - find the "shorted" pin and desolder it , now check keypad again ,if it works solder 5V1 zener diode to replace the blown zener/zeners inside the D101. if more than 1 are shorted replace D101 with new one or just remove it(w/o D101 the next time cpu will die). that problem is caused from static electricity.
if D101 is ok check elements marked FB117,118... those are ferite inductors -resistance is 0.0...ohms replace or short broken inductor .
    also measure D104 and RB126 resistor .

i think your problem is D101 just remove it and remember how is soldered ,and check if now your psx works.
if not it will be more compicated ,if all mentioned parts are OK your CPU have blown from static electricity inputs

about service manuals for PSX ..noone have it ,sorry and believe me u dont need it
