I have seen as onechip.hex file is perfect for psone the first version, while it does not make a good job for version 2 PM-41(2).
In this version the laser does not work well and it is necessary adjustment always . When I have ended to adjust it I never do not obtain one optimal reading.
I understand this because one of the discs I use for my tests is not read well like when the reader is little efficient and the disc turns with a little anomalous noise. I have always found this.
I have tried the mm3eur.hex today, I have tried various connections (as they were in pitcure associated to mm3 file did not work), me he seems that loads backup pal only and not ntsc but I must verify better (today is Sunday and ... are returned for 2 hours in my laboratory for these fast tests).
In any case I have seen as the disc also turns with noise and it is not read like would have to be read.
I task that this code would go modified and ask you if someone knows an other code effectively working well for this second version.

the one chip hex is working great in new psone models
but i think that your connections are not ok ,i mean you need a correct shematic
post your shematic and i'll try to correct it ,i installed a lot and never touched the lens pot

I have the same problem. Some PS ONE have problem on laser with old one chip. I think the code will be revisioned.
The diagram that I use is little different by the point 1 and 8 but the problem it's the same.

    do this:
join pins 2 ,7,8(must be all connected to gnd)
pin6 must be connected to the other side of the capacitor in you shematic(or in the resistor connected to the same capacitor where you put you pin 6)
    report please ..thinks
