Hey I'm pretty sure that bad media (for backups) can damage the PS2 laser, but does the same apply when using worse CD-R media for PS1?

Hey I'm pretty sure that bad media (for backups) can damage the PS2 laser, but does the same apply when using worse CD-R media for PS1?
I've used the Wal-mart DuraBrand CDs for the PS1 for several years with no problems... just make sure what ever you are using is Green-silver in color and not blue or green... must be a light green-silver color... at least that's what works in all 4 of my playstations... 3 grey and one PSOne 5400, 7500, 9000, and a PSOne
How bout the Memorex CD-R's I have some that the side u burn the data to is black like the actual PS1 game itself. On a side note they arent all that expensive around $15 for a 30 pack.
I use TY media and they work great. They are known for their reliability.
The Memorex blacks... work fine... in fact some said that the black works better... I saw at my local Big Lots! that they had them there on sale... can't remember how much though.
Will using worse media (but still works) hurt the PS1 laser?
Well the ps1 laser seems to be a lot stronger, my first backups were Kodak CD-r and following those a lot of other crappy Cd-r for like 2-3 years, then my backups began to stop working and I started using decent cdr like tdk or verbatim or whatever it was and after all these years my ps1 is still gonig strong, so I guess whatever cd-r you are using, it s a lot more stable than any crappy ps2 laser
Myself I've tried the memorex black works EVERY time. I used to hear a lot of people saying "always use verbatim only" without having tried it themselves. I quickly found the verbatim are mediocre, failure rate 80 to 90% with internal mod chips, with game enhancer (even the crap ones) the failure drops to 60%, which is still far too high.
