ps1 backing up cd-r problem
i recently acquired a modded playstation 1 and have been trying to copy my ps1 games for it. it only plays copied/burned off games (as most mod chipped systems work). i have tried several methods to burning off a game, only ending up having the copy skip/sound failure. the first time i tried copying on a memorex cd-r using alcohol 120% at 10x speed, total failure. yes, i do know about copying at RAW DAO/minimum speeds. shortly after, i tried copying at 4x on a memorex and the results were slightly better. the game was playable but not perfect. i tried using imgburn to burn my game at 1x (after googling the problem a lot) and it just ended up burning at my burners lowest speed possible (4x). after this i decided i needed better media. i purchased verbatim cd-r's (which supposedly work better). the results were exactly the same. i noticed that the bottom of the cd's didn't have the classic dark green ink like most of the older blank cd-r's had. apparently this is an issue? is it possible that the ps1 lasers can't read the newer media?
for the record the modded ps1 came with some older cd-r's. tony hawk 2 (which was burned on a memorex cd-r platinum and worked fine), gran turismo 2 (burned on fujifilm with darker ink, worked fine). i really don't know what else to do, ugh.
anyway, if anyone else is familiar with backing up ps1 games for the ps1. please drop me a line. i'm considering finding a way to mod my ps2 instead.
