Need help, Gameshark lite not working. Other cheat CD for playing PSX/PS1 games? –

Hi everyone,
I just bought an old PS1 (PSX) recently because I wanted to avoid playing PS1 games on my PS2 to prevent wearing down the laser. It is a SCPH-9001 version, and does not have the parallel port on the back.
I have a flip top on my PS2 that works well with the PS1 Gameshark Lite that I have.
(It's this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-GAMESHARK-LI...QcmdZViewItem).
However, my PS1 will not load backups with it, even if I hold down the CD-lid button. The gameshark software requests that the PS1 lid be open to swap the games, and then closed. Therefore, I have to release pressue of the Lid indicator in order for the gameshark to register the opening of the lid.
Of course, it hangs at the "Loading Game" screen after that, even though the CD is spinning.
Any help will be appreciated.
Also, if there is another cheat or boot CD that I should get, please let me know. I know about Breaker Pro, but it'll cost me about what I paid for the PS1 console.
Thank you.

Thanks for the info. So your codebreaker disc does not stop spinning?
I'll try a few more times with my gameshark to see if I can get anything working this weekend.

Well, I did some more testing last week and the Gameshark Lite won't work.
I think I had a gameshark CDX version 5 (or whatever the last PSX version was) that I lent to a friend about a year ago. I'll see If I can test it with that. That version did not stop spinning on the PS2, but the Lite version does (I use a flip-top).
