I just installed the 7wire multichip on my 1001 psx. When I play some things the audio skips. Is this a dirty laser?

try if it still doing it when the psx stands on its side, if the music dont skips then u need a laser adjustment.
its formilliar with the old consoles.

Where/how can I do a laser adjustment? Because I remember back in the say while playing syphon filter it wouldnt play audio or dialogue without skipping...I flipped the psx upside down and it worked like a charm.

get the top of the psx and u'll see the laser unit .
At the backside of the unit u see a pot-meter its right inbetween the flat cable(brown).
this screw u turn clockwise with 1/8 part of a circle at the time.
the best thing is when u have the psx open to put the audio disc on the laser unit and play it ,dont forget to hold the buton for the cd cap or else the cd wont run.
then with a little screwdriver u turn the pot-meter,be carefull ,dont touch the spinning cd.
    And be carefull with electricity.
Its defenitly a laser prob and it just needs to be adjust.
