Anyone one know if it's economically sound finding a laser assembly for the ps1 to replace a broken one? My brother's ribbon cable that connects the laser unit to the board is torn. Would he be better off getting a new system and having me put a new chip in it? Model 9001

Interesting. I hadn't even considered that. Do you think I should use wire to make the connections, or just solder the cable together?
