I Need Help With Installing a MM3 modchip... –
Hello all, I am having a little bit of trouble installing a psx, mm3 modchip. i ordered some 12f629 chips from china and i am trying to install it into a 9001 psx. I have tried two different wirings, to no avail. By the way, it is a ntsc console, and i used the usa hex that came from a download package i found somewhere on the internet. If anyone could help, that would be great!
From what I can tell, the mm3 hex is made for the pic 12c508/pic 12c508a (not sure of the differences). Unless someone has a converted hex for the 12f629 (you may already have it, I dont know) you would need some of the 12c508s. Also, I looked through my collection of psx mod stuff (pics and hexs) and I didnt see anything for the 9000 series of psx. Do you know what motherboard is in it? I have some pics for the motherboards that are pu18, pu20, pu22, pu23. Hope this helps, and sorry for the long reply.

But, it could be the programmer or the chips as well, the programmer seemed to write them and verify them without flaw, but i guess it could be either.
Hopefully this uploaded right, anyway, this is the pic for the pu23 that I have. If it doesnt appear on here big enough, I could email it to you.
Thanks for the diagram, i have that exact one except the number 2 solder joint is covered by a label that says "mm3.xx". But that wasn't the problem, i found that the chip was bad, or i heated it up too much while soldering or something. well, anyway, i used a new chip, burned the hex onto it, was careful not to keep the soldering iron on the chip too long, and boom. I was able to boot up a backup of one of my games. Well, thanks for the help!
Glad you got it going, and glad I was a little help anyways.
