My suggestion would be to remove portions of the case and replace with transparent plastic, or if you have the resources, make a replacement case.

I've been toying with the idea of making a liquid filled case lately and the PS1 would be a great place to start.

an acrylic case 1/2 thick with the controller ports, a/v, power connectors as well as the drive and buttons in a seperate and leak proof part of the case... well sealed with only the MB submerged into the non conductive liquid. A super cooled and heavier than a PS1 should ever be, system of mayhem.

so a main box with the MB inclosed in it and the ribbons through thin slots that are sealed from the inside and out with silicone as well and a thin strip of rubber (washer) inside the grove for the cable. Then mounted in the outer shell that is not exposed..

Filled with DuraLube... heat absorbant and non conductive to 50,000 + volts. Of course completely lit form the inside with well placed LEDs.

This is so happening after I get my PS2 done though.... and depending on the success of the project I will translate to the PS2.
