FF9 backups

Just wondering if the game is protected? Tried so many times the same problem still persist, in disc 3, where after getting the gulug stone, I am prompted with the character selection screen and after that, there's no more activity.

I did my backups on a liteon 24102B and burned @ 8x(lowest). should I burn it at a faster rate?

Please advise.

i had no trouble copying that game. check to see if you have a screen saver on if so turn it office. make sure there is no other types of activities going on while you copy. if that does not work you may have a scratch copy.

Do I need to apply a patch? where can i find it?

My original copy is perfect, so i guess it's not the disc fault.

no you dont need a patch, especailly if you were able to play up to disk three. lets try burning the game at 2x if you are copying to fast it could skip secters.
