    Things you need.
    1) Tape (something strong, duct tap will do.)
    2) A old version of Action Replay/Game Shark/Codebreaker that will run on the PSX. (or any other cheat device)
    3) A screw driver (one that will open the system)

    How to....
    1) First, open the system (Duh)
    2) once you have opend it you should see a little black button that you can press.
    3) Now, get a small piece off tape and place it on the black button and make sure its on tight so it won't fall off.
    4) Once the tap is on and won't fall off, close the sytem back up.
    5) Now to test to see if you did it right, place a PSX game in and close the top. Turn on the PSX and wait to hear the disc spinning. When the disc is spinning open the top, if the disc stops go back to step one, but if it keeps spinnning you are ready.
    6) Now, place the cheat device disc in the system and start it. Once its done and the disc has stoped spinning open the top. Place a burned game in the place of the cheat device disc and you can close the top if you want (doesn't matter) and start the game w/ or w/o codes.
    7) If did this right the burned game should start right up!

P.S. I have only tested this with a Old Action Replay disc, I'm sure it work w/ any.
    Please post your comments.

this will work with the carts as well...

GS Pro - Hunter - Xploder and others....

Also you can make a spring for it as well.... go to your local hardware store and pick up some springs... compression springs... normally expanded... then cut to fit and slide into the button in the back under the lid....

Thanks for telling me that the GS,Hunter, and Xploder work, but why buy a spring when you could just use a piece of tap?

I like the spring... some games (multi disc games) require varifying that the disc has been changed... so if I want to play a pressed game that needs the second disc checked I just lift the spring.

I think Colony Wars was one of the games that did this...

you can also mount a switch to the outside of the case that can bypass the switch... doing the same as the spring

i've done this same simple mod. the only difference is that i used hot glue to make the plastic thing that presses the black button in stay in place. the first time i did it, i used a twist tie, then i got my glue gun, and had to test it on something. i've been able to close my cd case and keep on playing. this is after years of jamming something in the back of it, like a pen cap or something. i think i lost the spring on the first day i got it. whenever i need to switch CDs on something like a FF game, i just pop in the next cd and press X to keep on going.
