A chipped PS One stops reading burned games
A chipped PS One stops reading burned games –
I've had a chipped PS One console for more than a decade and played burned games with the help of a Boot CD from time to time. All of sudden, however, the machine stopped reading the Boot disc and as a result, I've been unable to run any burned game (original games from shops run smoothly most of the time, it seems, except for occasional freezing).
Do you know any way of fixing this issue? I've no idea whether there's a problem with the Boot disc (I've tried re-burning it onto another CD but didn't help) or with the console itself but if it were the latter option, I wouldn't be able to run any game at all, would I?
Thanks in advance.
well, i would go for the more expensive discs, dont buy maxell or memorex. try those tayo yuden or verbatim or ive had luck with fujifilm and sony. edit: also i have had luck with kodak discs
most likely you would wanna try getting a boot disc like the gameshark for ps2 second disc that has ps1 cheats, or learn the swap trick.
using crappy media definately can burn the laser out tho.
edit: maybe clean the laser lens off with some zippo fluid on a q-tip, thats what i use anyways,
wait ya, you have a hard modded system, theres also the factor that maybe one of the solder points got disconnected

why are you using a boot disc if it is chipped ?
try adjusting the laser intensity pot a very small amount at a time
