Burning Backups - Burn Speed + Media
Burning Backups - Burn Speed + Media –
03-10-2011,12:00 AM
I've got a PS2 Fat with what I now know is a Messiah 2 TW chip, and thanks to this forum have worked out how to get it to boot PS1 games, which is fantastic.
However, I have a bit of a problem - I've tried burning a backup of a game, and while it boots without problem, the sound in the FMVs is constantly skipping and entering mini-loops.
I'd normally solve this problem by burning at a low speed - something in the 1x - 4x range. But the drive in my laptop (which is my only machine at the moment) has a hardware minimum burn speed of 10x. Attempt to set it any lower than this in software, and it either ignores it and burns at 10x anyway, or gives an error.
I'm using fairly cheap and cheerful TDK branded media. Does anyone know if using better media will let me burn at 10x without the getting FMV skipping problems, or am I going to have to find an external CD writer that supports lower write speeds?
Cheers!

what are you using to rip the games and in what format? for PS1 games clonecd is the best format as it preserves the subchanel info.
