Aladdin One chip not working?
Aladdin One chip not working? –
My friend has a SCPH-9002 PAL Playstation, and we bought a chip for it a while back. The chip reads "Aladdin One" on top of it.
So I soldered it on, but oops! it won't accept any disc, CD-R or original. Without the chip, originals work fine. Tried a few different wire lenghts too..
Today I tried it again, since my soldering skills have much improved. I went with as short wires as I could, but still the same problem.
My installation (The wire 5 doesn't touch the board in the middle, it's hovering well above it)
Any PSX chip experts here :)? Should I just call it a dead chip or could there be some black magic going on here...
Try connecting the wire 5 to each point on the board, without it going to the actual pin 5 of the chip itself.
Try also wiring it like my old-crow diagram attached below.
It uses different power point, and better signal for the inject code #6 wire.
Snipped the wire going to the chip -> no luck.
Tried that schematic -> still nothing.
I did a little trial and error, and it seems that the problem lies with the pin5 wires aka the jumper. With those two points connected, the laser goes to the verification area, sits there for a while, and the disc is rejected.
So I guess shorting those two grounds the verification signal coming from the laser? And it's supposed to be replaced by the chip, but nope.
if its a "one chip' I think it only works on SCPH-102
