[Homebrew] Create your own PSX Games: open-source SDK
[Homebrew] Create your own PSX Games: open-source SDK –
I'm new into this forum, yet an inconditional lover of the PSX, and since I was a child I always wanted to create games for it, whatever programming skills I had to learn. This dream came true four months ago, when I found PSXSDK, an SDK for the PSone created from scratch and from other open-source tools (such as MakePSXISO). Credits go to nextvolume, an Italian programmer who developed it. The download link is two posts below! (thanks, Unfinity!) - you'll see a Google Code webpage with a downloads section.
It's a bit hard to explain here the procedure to set PSXSDK up (and also depends from the OS you use), so please, join channel #psxdev on Freenode IRC - I'm usually online there, and so does the SDK's author, if you want to ask us questions.

The PSX was a fantastic system to develop for! To this day it remains my favorite. Good hardware tools and it's a pretty simple system yet complex enough to keep you interested. I'm glad there is still interest in it! Good luck with your adventures in coding!
Now this is something that deserves everyone's attention. I hope that it will...
Should I start writing "OMFG! OMFG! OMFG! OMFG!"... ?
I just can't find some words to put together... this is just great.
To ease things to people interested on PSX homebrew, I'm writing a guide for developers. It's far from complete, but for now it covers the installation part, which could be the most difficult without instructions. Moreover, I attach a very simple game I wrote a month ago with .bin image and commented source code included.
All these files are compressed in a ZIP file. Enjoy!

This is great stuff guys. Keep up the good work!!!
I never coded anything for PSX, but I might get to it! This seems like an excellent oportunity to do so.
Thank you, and keep it going!
BTW, PSXSDK's author, nextvolume, is often connected in the following IRC channel:
IRC Server: Freenode
Log in there if you want to chat with him and ask enquiries!
Hello again. I know reviving old posts isn't ethical, but this is very important to mention. If admins do not tolerate it in any case, please tell me so that I can fix it up.
A Windows-ready version of PSXSDK was released a couple of months ago, making all the mess with Cygwin and dependencies in the past absolutely innecessary. So, you only need to decompress the packages using the install wizard included and start working! Download links are posted by Unfinity just some posts above this one.
I'm planning to write a sort of an RPG game mixed with shooter elements, and I need someone to help me, specially referring to sprites and giving ideas. I've been writing an engine for shooter games for some months which includes 8-directional player movement (heavy trigonometrical stuff BTW), aiming, shooting (obviously) and handling weapons (reloading, switching weapons...), so that I've gained some C programming experience and I find myself ready for a new project. Those you might be interested on it please contact me through PM or right here!
